Summer Lawn & Gardening Checklist

Now is the time to finish up your fall planting. With all the rain we've had, be sure to turn over your garden beds and boost with compost or fertilizer. If you are not planning on planting anything for the fall harvest, consider a cover crop to naturally replenish the soil with organic matter and keep your topsoil from washing away. If you are planting, think about some landscape fabric to keep the weeds down. As Benjamin Franklin once said, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". Some of the things to add to your fall planting list would be: turnips, collards, mustard greens, carrots, radishes, beets, lettuce, spinach, kale and onions.
